Ivaldi is the committee for our first year students. Ivaldi organises at least two activities. The first one is  called “Open Huis Dag” (Open House Day). This activity is held for parents of the first year students te come and see what their child is doing. During this day the parents get a tour throughout the faculty and attend some classes, so they know how it is to be a student. At the end of the day the parents take a look in Het Walhalla where they see where a student can relax after a hard day of studying.

The second activity that Ivaldi organises is a party. Het Walhalla is transformed into a specific theme and everyone can have fun.

After these two activities we are going to look for new students that are interested in organising an activity, but were too late to help with the first two activities. It’s up to them what the third activity will be, but the main target is to get all freshmen to join the activity.

An impression of last year's parent day is described below.
On the 17th of January, first year’s commission Ivaldi of the e.t.s.v. Thor organised the annual parents day. Many of our first year students’ parents came to the TU to have a day full of activities. Both practical and theoretical. The day was arranged to show parents what a first year student Electrical Engineering or Automotive does during a typical course day. With a record breaking 80 parents, this year’s parents day was a great success.
After the parents were greeted with coffee and vlaai, they were given a lecture by prof. dr. ir. Ralph Otten. The parents learned the basics of boolean algebra as they were given a practical activity in the afternoon. During this activity the parents were given the assignment to build a traffic light using logical gates. After some struggling, many parents were successful in building a functioning traffic light. Following the practical activity, the parents had a guided tour through the faculty. During this tour they encountered various demonstrations. The highlight of the tour was the singing tesla coil in Corona which amazed many parents.
The parents day ended with a casual drink in the Walhalla.
